Thoughtful Leadership, Academic Rigor, Editorial Clarity

The hardest problems in higher education rarely fit into tidy categories. They sit at the intersection of people, purpose, systems, and change—and that is where I do my best work.

I am a dean, scholar, and higher-education strategist who helps institutions move from ambitious ideas to practical, sustainable action. I lead complex academic organizations, build trust across faculty and administrative groups, align programs and resources with institutional priorities, and keep student success at the center of decision-making.

Much of my work addresses the challenges colleges are confronting now: improving post-completion outcomes, supporting faculty through change, renewing curricula and academic structures, integrating AI responsibly, and demonstrating how the humanities contribute to judgment, career readiness, civic life, and institutional performance.

I bring the perspectives of a dean, full professor, journal editor, and public humanities scholar. My strengths are listening closely, making sense of complexity, bringing the right people together, asking consequential questions, and building a clear path from strategy to implementation.

I also speak and consult on academic leadership, organizational change, faculty culture, the future of the humanities, and responsible innovation in higher education.
